Language Tutoring Program (LTP)

The  Language Tutoring Program (LTP) is a free program designed to connect Salem and Willamette University community members interested in learning about Jaltapanese language and culture with American Studies Program (ASP) students. The lesson content and specific meeting times are decided by the community students and their tutors, and each group meets once a week at the TIUA/WU campus. The tutors are volunteers and, while very enthusiastic, are not professional teachers. The program is typically offered in the spring and fall semesters.

Occasionally, some semesters, there is tutoring available in other languages, such as Korean or Chinese. For more information, you can call TIUA (503-373- 3300) or e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Please note: The Language Tutor Program will not be offered for Fall 2017. In order to offer a quality program for the community and our students, we are taking this time to improve and enhance the tutoring experience.  At this time, we are unsure when we will restart the program. In the meantime, we hope to continue to offer opportunities for you to be involved in intercultural learning and exchange.

If you would like to continue working with our students, we are still looking for Tomodachi Program participants.
