How to use Avatar Hello, everybody. I would like to introduce Avatar. Do you know what Avatar is? According to my survey about half of the respondents who know about Avatar. So, at first, I will explain what is Avatar. We can make an alternative self on a small square-shaped area close to the user’s forum post on the Internet. Mostly, we use this in case we play a computer game or use a chat. It’s useful for the Internet because you can guard your privacy. People can display an Avatar instead of their photo. However according to my survey, 60 percentages of all people responded Avatar is not useful. It might be they don’t know much about Avatar. Okay, next, I will explain how to use Avatar. First of all, go to the site “似顔絵アバター IGOSSO”(Portrait Avatar IGOSSO). The URL is http://www.igosso.jp/avatar/. You can make your own Avatar character free on this site. Then, click on the icon of “background” and open the list of parts. After that, click on the picture of parts that you want to use. You will see many options. Also “clothes”, “outline”, “make up”, “eyebrow”, “eye”, “mouth”, “nose”, “hairstyle”, “accessory”, “hand”, “color arrangement”, go ahead with the same procedure as “background”. For example, under “clothing”, you can choose a purple shirt, a white shirt, whatever. Make a choice. And, click on an icon for “color of hair”, “color of skin” and so on. Next, in case you want to tune in exactly about the location of a picture, the picture moves little by little when you click on a button. In case you want to enter a letter in the picture, you can enter in lower case letters. Finally, when you are done, you can paste your own Avatar character on any of your sites that you want to use. When you’d like to play a chat using an Avatar character, paste yours on the site. By the way, this is my alternative self. Thank you for listening.
Survey Result My survey topic is how to use Avatar. There are six people who responded to my questions. There were two professors and four students. The first question is, “Have you ever seen or used Avatar?” 50 percent of the respondents have done this. The second question is, “Do you know how to make an Avatar character?” 83.3 percent of all answered, “No”. And one of the respondents said, “I don’t know and I’m not sure what is Avatar.” The third question is, “Do you think Avatar is useful or not?” 66.7 percent of all think it’s not useful. The fourth question is, “How often do you use Computer Games on the Internet?” 66.7 percent sometimes use it. 33.3 percent have never used them. The last question is, “Do you like to make an alternative self by computer graphics?” 16.7 percent of respondents answered, “Yes”. However, 83.3 percent responded, “I’ve never made that.” In conclusion, I think many people don’t know what Avatar is. That’s the reason why the comments about all the questions are negative. And I was surprised at the result that many people think Avatar is not useful. I don’t think so. If you use your own Avatar character, you can guard your privacy. You don’t have to expose your face to anyone. Or perhaps, because they don’t know about Avatar, they might have answered it’s not useful. Moreover, unexpectedly, most of them have little interest in making an alternative self by computer graphics. These days, there are so many technologies around us. So, I thought especially teenagers are interested to learn about computers. In addition to this, contrary to my expectations, most of them don’t always or usually use Computer Games on the Internet but only sometimes. |
