How to use Chinese Facebook I have used the Chinese facebook called Xiaonei since a year ago. I use it twice a week. I often use two parts that is photo and diary. Now I will teach you how to use Chinese facebook. First you enter the website address www.xiaonei.com and add your ID and password. You can write your personal material. You write your real name, sex, hometown, birthday, and school name. If you want to let other people know you, you can write your interests, favorite music, games, sports, books on the page. On the left, there is a line tool. The first is a picture album. On the right of the word album, there is a word 上传 written. It means to add pictures in to Xiaonei from here. So you left click on the word 上传。You can make a new album, write the album name and the place where you took the photos and write the information of the pictures. Or you can use an old album that you have used before. Choose an old album, there are two choices you can use. It is the same effect. You can left click on one of them, and you left click the word Browse, so you choose your favorite pictures from your computer. And then you write something about your pictures. Left-click 上传照片，wait a minute, your pictures will be added to Xiaonei. Then every one can see your pictures online. If you want to delete pictures, you can see the word 删除相册，you just left-click, and the pictures will be deleted. Next is the diary, you can see 日志 and发表 ,the two choices. 发表 is the same as上传. You left-click on the word 发表, and then you can write your feeling or what is happening these days. It looks like Microsoft Word. It is easy to use. When you finish your diary, you just left click the word 发表. It’s ok. Other people can share your diaries online. The third part is to add a movie. You only left-click the word 电影。You will get lots of information about movies. If you want to look for your former classmates, left click the word 搜索，and then you write your past classmate’s name and other information, such as when and where you were in the same class or school. After finishing it, you left click the word 搜索,you can find some guys whose information is similar with your past classmates’ information. And you can get information on your Xiaonet, you only need to left-click the information which you want to read. The most important parts are the pictures and diary options. If you know how to use the two parts, it is enough.

I sent my summary to 7 people about Xiaonei. They are 6 TIUA students and 1 Willamette University student. My response summary has five questions. The first question is how many people know Chinese facebook Xiaonei. No one knows it. The second is about the Chinese facebook’s effect. 100% think we can add pictures to it and make friends. 75% of people think we can write journals and look for past classmates. They don’t think they can watch movies ,go shopping , or listen to music in Chinese face book – Xiaonei. The third question is how often they check facebook. 66.7% of people think they check it more than once a month. Only 33.3% think they can check it twice a week. The fourth question is if it is an important manner to connect with friends. Most people said that it is true, it is important. The last question is what is their purpose if they have Chinese facebook. More than half of people think they use it to make friends and learn Chinese. They aren’t interested in watching movies or listening to music on it. Anyway, they know the Chinese facebook’s effects are similar to the Japanese Mixi. They think Chinese facebook is an important manner to connect with friends. But they didn’t want to spend a lot time on it.
