Students participate in various activities with Willamette students.
Program participants have many opportunities to get involved in programs and events at Willamette University and in the local community.
Clubs: TIUA students can join various clubs at Willamette University. Some examples of clubs are the Outdoor Club, Swing Dance Club, Ultimate Frisbee, Dance Team, DJ Club, and various music clubs (such as band or choir). For more information, visit the
Student Organizations web page.
Community Involvement: The Student Leadership Program (TSLP) allows students to discuss current issues on campus, plan events to help integrate the Willamette and TIUA communities, and consider how to expand relationships with the Salem community. For more information, visit the
TSLP web page.
Volunteer Activities: TIUA students have opportunities to get involved in various volunteer activities on and off campus. Many past students have introduced Japanese culture in local schools, helped at homeless shelters and nursing homes, and helped to clean city parks. Willamette University has an office to help students find volunteer opportunities. Through this office, TIUA students can get involved in programs and volunteer events that mach their interests. For more information, visit the
Service-Learning web page.
Tomodachi Family: Tomodachi Families are American families in Salem area that will be introduced to interested students. The students are often invited to their Tomodachi family's parties, and they often go hiking or camping together. Through this opportunity, TIUA students can experience American culture and society beyond the college campus. For more information, visit the
Tomodachi Program web page.
