Students live in Willamette University residence halls

Program participants are dispersed to 12 Willamette University residence halls. The roommate may be a Willamette student or a TIUA student. However, once the student steps out of the room, he or she is surrounded by Willamette students who speak English.

There are many parties and activities in each residence hall, which are great opportunities for making friends with Willamette students. Residence halls, classrooms, music halls, exercise facilities, student centers, the health center, and other buildings are scattered on 57 acres of green trees and open areas. Program participants can fully enjoy American university life.

Students live in the city of Salem

The city of Salem, where this study-abroad program is offered is the capital of the State of Oregon. It was started in 1840 by missionaries of the United Methodist Church. The city is the second largest city in Oregon, after Portland, and it is the center of politics, education, and business in Oregon. The time difference between Salem and Japan is 16 hours during daylight savings, and 17 hours during standard time.
